Ever heard of the fantastic benefits a yogic headstand has? After standing all day this asana gives our feet a well deserved rest. Blood flows to the head, providing room for a healthy brain and all the actions involved. But the most amazing benefit of them all: it literally turns our world upside down. How many times do we feel stuck in a rut? How often do we feel like our lives are same old same old, day in day out. And we catch ourselves longing for some excitement, an adventurous ‘Indiana Jones-type’ holiday or to simply be swept off our feet by coincidence at some random public place. Headstand can give us the inspiration to look at the world differently. It can assist us at choosing out of the box, being wild and inspired. And let’s talk about food now. How often are we stuck when it comes to that? I for example tempt to hold on to food. I experiment, come up with an amazing recipe and love that dish so much that I will eat it for weeks and weeks. If possible for breakfast, lunch and dinner. That is until I come up with some other great food combo and eat this new food fad for all the upcoming weeks. And I see other people get stuck when it comes to food too, in many different ways. They never experiment, cook their food without passions and eat without enjoyment. Or never think about what they eat and simply shove it into their mouths. Or become hard when it comes to their diet: they don’t want to eat certain foods because they are ‘bad’ and ‘unhealthy’. Do you catch yourself going to the same restaurant, lunch spot and coffee house? Or do you always do your shopping at the same supermarket, at 6 pm, with your blue shopping basket in hand and deciding to go for the ready meal again? Or healthy salad produce you had yesterday…and the day before…and the day before? Have you bought any adventurous products recently? Food that you’ve never tasted before? Bought at a store that you’ve never been to? Have you tried to eat your breakfast at dinnertime and a soup in the morning? Try it! What is there to loose? Do the Headstand of Food and give your world a refreshing whirl. Sweep yourself off your feet and change your look-out. The world is very pretty upside down!
